2006 CMC Annual Conference – A Testimony of God’s Power and Provision

From August 2006 Mosaic:

Taste of Missions

Delicious Costa Rican cuisine wasn’t the only thing being served up at the Taste of Missions event at this year’s CMC Annual Conference. Those who attended also got heaping helpings of encouragement and challenge from reports of God’s work all over the world.

At the annual event, Global Missions Director Paul Kurtz introduced Diego, a Costa Rican man who came to know Christ through the ministry of RMM workers. After he briefly shared his gratitude, attendees were introduced to RMM’s new workers who are commissioned to reach Spain, Thailand and North Africa. Regional Director for Latin America Dave Sharp outlined how RMM is partnering with several Latin American churches to send some its members all over the world as missionaries. Finally, RMM honored Elmer and Eileen Lehman for over 45 years of service in Costa Rica and the United States.

Attendees of the annual conference were also blessed to hear the preaching of Henry Mulandi (Director of African Christian Missions International in Thika, Kenya), participated in “sending out” newly appointed missionaries and missionary interns, and partnered with RMM in expanding God’s kingdom all over the globe through the Missions day Offering at Sunday morning’s Missions Day service.

Bishop Mulandi (pictured at left) challenged all believers to be a part of God’s missionary work as a response to the fact that God sent His Son to earth as the “first missionary” so that they would believe in Him. Later in the service CMC members prayed together and commissioned several new workers heading to the international mission field and to positions in the local RMM and SEND Department offices to glorify God in their work.

God also used attendees in an incredible way to bless the ministry of RMM. As of August 1st, 2006, the total of pledges and cash for the 2006 Missions Day Offering was over $230,000! These gifts will go toward inviting the nations to worship Jesus. Thank you to all who gave or pledged, and please join us in thanking God for his incredible provision!

REACH-ing the world

From August 2006 Mosaic: This year, SEND ministries will launch thirteen young adults to Spain, North Africa, and Nepal as a part of its REACH program. REACH is for young adults (age 18 and over) and consists of three months of DTS (Discipleship Training School) in Columbus, Ohio, followed by an outreach component that lasts six or nine months.

The DTS is designed to build strong spiritual foundations in the lives of all participants. The teaching and practical experiences of the DTS are centered on training in: Communion/Intimacy with God, Holy Spirit Empowerment, Christ-like Relationships, Biblical Truth, The Body of Christ, Evangelism and Compassion, Dying to Self/Living for Christ, and World Missions.

Following the DTS, participants are placed into REACH teams that travel to their cross-cultural ministry locations for the outreach component of the REACH program. On outreach, the primary emphasis is on evangelism but also includes a balance of work/service projects. Teams interact with local groups of believers in such activities as musical and drama performances, friendship evangelism, assisting mission workers and pastors in outreaches, involvement with church youth groups, street evangelism, and a variety of manual work or medical projects.

Missions Day Offering Brings In Over $230,000

What an awesome God we serve! Thanks to God's provision through the generosity of those who gave, the total for the 2006 Missions Day Offering as of August 3, 2006, stands at $234,000!

This provides RMM with a much-needed financial boost given the increased expenses we’ve experienced as a result of the expansion we’ve undertaken. This expansion includes sending a missionary family and several interns to Thailand and taking steps to deploy one missionary family to Spain and another one to North Africa in early 2007. We are excited about the doors God is opening in these countries.

God is doing amazing things, not only in these countries, but in many others where RMM has work. Visit this News Blog to view up-to-date news and stories from RMM’s work around the globe. RMM invites you to rejoice with us in thanksgiving at how God has provided!
