New Communication Director Asks, “How May I Help You?”

[From January 2007 Mosaic] Tom Beachy, of Pigeon, Mich., began serving as the Communication Director at RMM in December. He served as the pastor of Pigeon River Mennonite Church for sixteen years. He also served as an associate pastor at Alden Mennonite Church in western New York before that. He and his wife, Karen, made the move to Urbana, Ohio around Thanksgiving and are adjusting to a new home. As Director of Communication, Tom is responsible for managing the Communication Department staff, overseeing creative leadership of writers and designers in the development of RMM communication devices (such as Mosaic), and being the “face” of RMM to the CMC churches and other constituents.

Tom writes about his passion for the job in the January issue of the Brotherhood Beacon, here is an excerpt:

As the new Communication Director of Rosedale Mennonite Missions, my goal is to tell you what God is doing around the world through your prayers and financial giving. I want to bear witness with you, tell you the stories and thank you for your part in the Kingdom of Christ--a part that is much greater than what any of us could do individually…

As the Director of Communication there are three questions that I want to always have before me as I interact and spend time with you.
1. How can we at RMM help you in your mission?
2. How can you and your congregation help us in our mission?
3. How can we work together as partners at home and abroad?

I have much to learn and will need your help. I will be contacting each congregation over the next several months to arrange a time when we can visit. I would like to help you communicate to your congregations the work of RMM. I will be available to preach, lead discussion groups, be part of missions weekends and meet with your mission boards at your invitation.

I pray that as we meet to pray and share, we will all be encouraged to be passionately involved in missions at home and abroad to the glory of God. I can be reached by phone at Rosedale Mennonite Missions 740-857-1366 or by email at tom@rmmoffice.org. Please give me a call. I am here to serve you.

Senior Prayer Chapters Continue to Grow

[From January 2007 Mosaic] RMM has seen the number of Senior Prayer Chapters grow to eight, with two more on the way. Senior Prayer Chapters are groups of senior citizens from all over the country who gather once a month to pray for the work of RMM and unreached peoples worldwide. They receive a monthly video update from RMM to stay informed. Some chapters represent one congregation, while some chapters represent several congregations from a single area.

There are currently Senior Prayer Chapters in:

• Rosedale , OH
• Belleville, PA
• Greenwood, DE
• Sarasota, FL
• Crogan, NY
• Bremen, OH
• Grantsville, MD
• Hutchinson, KS

If you are interested in joining a prayer chapter or starting a prayer chapter in your area, contact the RMM office at 740-857-1366 or by email at info@rmmoffice.org.

"21 Days" Calls Young Adults to Abandoned Lifestyles

[From January 2007 Mosaic] Student Volunteer Movement 2 (or SVM2), a Christian organization dedicated to calling young adults to reach the nations, is challenging the youth of the world to fast and pray for the unreached and the spiritual state of their generation. 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting is a corporate event for what SVM2 calls, “abandoned devotion to Jesus and wholehearted commitment to global proclamation in our lifetime.” The event will take place from January 22 to February 12, and will gather students from all over the U.S and the world. Some will fast food the entire 21 days, but most will fast a lunch every day over the period, or some other creative way.

The purpose of 21 Days is very focused. Says SVM2, “God is waiting for a generation that will do whatever it takes to see the gospel planted in today's least reached areas by long-term message bearers [i.e. missionaries]. Together, we are seeking revival among the emerging generation that will thrust the supremacy of Christ to the forefront of every college ministry and cause multitudes to respond to His supremacy by giving themselves in full surrender to His role for their lives among the forgotten.”

At RMM, we encourage all youth and young adults who want to see God glorified in their lives and in the nations to participate in 21 Days. For more information, including prayer guides, fasting basics, and inspiring stories, go to: http://www.svm2.citymaker.com/21days2007.html
