RMM Workers Leave for Spain

Mayers_4web.jpgKevin and Wendy Mayer traveled to Spain with their two young children on March 7 to begin a three-year missionary assignment with RMM. They will spend a significant amount of 2007 learning the Spanish language and being immersed in Spanish culture. They will then begin work as church planters in the southern region of Spain.

The Mayers’ arrival in Spain is a great answer to prayer and a key piece of Project New Frontiers, RMM’s campaign to establish churches in the most unreached areas of the world. Currently Spain is one of the least reached countries in Europe and religious apathy is widespread. In Spain, if you were in a crowd of 1,000 people, statistically you would be the only person with a vital relationship with Jesus Christ. In addition, a “party culture” among the young people of Spain has led to 300,000 being addicted to heroin and cocaine, a major factor in Spain’s AIDS epidemic. There are now more AIDS victims in Spain than anywhere else in Europe.

Please join us in prayer for the Mayers as they seek to be Christ’s light to this darkened nation.

For more information on how to pray for the Mayers’ ministry or to make a financial contribution to their work, contact RMM at info@rmmoffice.org.

Experiencing God’s Love in Eastern Europe

Belarus_Web.jpg RMM Workers in Eastern Europe recently reported about how God is working in their area. They said the following:

Two families have become very precious to us in the last three years. We visit them weekly and have become like one family. We have seen many changes in their lives, but the largest change is in their eyes. Now they have light and hope in them because of the growing relationship they have with Jesus. A few weeks ago we did something special for these two families. We brought all of them to our city for the weekend. The boys spent the evening playing video and computer games. The girls did “girl” things. The Mom’s went to a nice restaurant. We had a wonderful time showing them that God loves them so much that He wants to give them the best. Many of them never had an experience like this in their lives.

Ride for Missions 2007 is Coming!

Last year, eighteen people rode bicycles 225 miles from Goshen, IN to Rosedale, OH in a mere three days. Not only did they get a workout, but the group also raised $26,000 for missions! These funds were used to assist Rosedale Mennonite Missions’ expanding ministry in the countries of Morocco, Spain and Thailand.

This year the Ride is back on! Plans are in the works for a ride from Rosedale to Goshen just before the CMC annual conference. If you are interested in coordinating this ride, or another ride originating in a different location, please contact RMM at info@rmmoffice.org. More details about Ride for Missions 2007 will come soon!

RBC Students Gather at RMM for 21 Days of Prayer

From January 22 to February 12 RBC Students gathered at the RMM office to pray for spiritual renewal among the young generations and for unreached peoples all over the world. Every weekday at noon during the 21 Days, the students fasted their lunch and met in an RMM conference room for an hour of prayer, often joined by some RMM staff workers. The result was an experience where several students and RMM staff were encouraged in their relationships with Christ and saw their passion for prayer grow.

This was an effort to participate in Student Volunteer Movement 2’s (SVM2) event called 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting, which challenged the youth of the world to seek revival. Groups of young people were praying during this event from all over North America. For more information on the ministry of SVM2, check out http://www.svm2.citymaker.com.
